Kauiki Foundation Scholarship

The Kauiki Foundation was founded in 2023 by a group of kamaa’ina concerned about the lack of higher education and vocational opportunities for Native Hawaiians.  The Kauiki Foundation is a registered domestic non-profit in the state of Hawaii.

Eligibility

Required Application & Supporting Documents

Please submit the following items so your application can proceed to the review committee

  1. Kauiki Foundation Scholarship Application, completed & signed. Applicants may fill the .pdf application electronically (it is a fillable .pdf) and sign electronically OR print the application and write in the information.
  2. Official Transcript (issued within six months of this application) must be sent directly from the Academic institution to the Kauiki Foundation no later than April 15th.
  3. A Letter of Acceptance from the institution you will be attending (first year students only).
  4. Two (2) Letters of Recommendation from teachers, advisors, counselors, mentors, and/or employers. Letters from friends and relatives are not accepted. Letters must be mailed/emailed directly from recommenders to the Kauiki Foundation no later than April 15th.
  5. Kauiki Foundation Service Report Form(s), completed & signed. State the types of unpaid, volunteer service you are currently doing for others OR have completed within the last 12 months. This can include service to an organization, institution, group, school, church OR can be assistance on a regular basis to a friend, family member or other individual that makes a significant impact on their wellbeing. The Foundation has a strong stance on service encourage students to participate in a variety of activities that impact our communities.
  6. Personal Statement addressing the following:
    • Your reason(s) for attending college/university/trade school
    • Your reason(s) for choosing your course of study
    • Your career goal(s)
    • Your commitment to the preservation, cultivation, and perpetuation of the native Hawaiian culture and how you hope to continue that in your career?
    • Any financial hardship, obstacles, or special circumstances to be considered
    • Your involvement in community service and/or service to others and the personal impact it has had on you.

Personal statements should be typed and no more than 4 pages. We kindly ask that you have your statement checked for spelling and grammar errors. Type “Personal Statement” at the top along with your first and last name.

Submission
1. Email – Application, service reports, & supporting documents (not including transcripts) can be emailed as .pdfs to applications@kauikifoundation.com, subject line: ATTN Scholarship Committee-Your Name. Please submit these in one email.
Letters of Recommendation must be emailed or mailed directly from recommenders.

2. Mail – Print the application and service reports to fill & sign, and snail materials (not including transcripts) to Kauiki Foundation: Scholarship Committee, 756 West, 425 North, Lindon, UT, 84042.
